Transit time is only one part of the schedule; preparation, handovers, and destination steps also matter.
A shipment plan does not begin when the vessel, aircraft, or truck departs. Cargo preparation, document collection, handover to the carrier, and steps after arrival also belong on the project timeline.
Break the schedule into stages
Allow a separate window for cargo readiness, pickup, main transport, terminal arrival, and final delivery. If one stage changes, you can then see how it affects the target delivery date.
Leave room for changes
Schedules, capacity, operating conditions, and document readiness can change. Discuss your required date early so routes with a suitable time buffer can be considered.
In the inquiry, state the cargo-ready date and the latest acceptable delivery date separately. Both help identify a suitable route and transport mode.
